The Michael D Mooney Jr. Foundation is a non-profit, 501c3 organization dedicated to helping substance abuse addicts find a new direction.
Mikie’s Foundation will help direct you or a loved one to help needed.
Mikie’s Foundation for Recovery is funded by public and private donors. All donations go directly toward financially assisting someone who is battling addiction. TTMAB is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, under the section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and therefore all charitable donations are deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
ABOUT US
Our Story
The "To the Moon and Back Foundation" was established to celebrate the life of a remarkable young man, Michael "Mikie" Mooney the 28 year old son of Donna and Michael and brother to Kerri. Mikie was a larger than life personality who brought light to wherever he ventured and always left a little piece of his heart behind for those that he met.
Sadly Mikie developed a consuming opioid addiction and as so often happens it quickly turned into a battle to save his life. With support from his family and friends Mikie struggled to maintain sobriety and while his victories were celebrated they were inevitably overshadowed by battles lost. Nonetheless while facing his struggles Mikie never waivered in his dedication to provide support and encouragement to help others overcome their own struggles. On March 9, 2017, Mikie died of an accidental overdose.
His parents, family and friends have joined forces to honor his memory by forming this foundation that aids young adults and their families struggling with the disease of addiction. The foundation offers financial, logistical and emotional support to those young adults, like Mikie.

Mission Statement
The "To The Moon and Back", Michael D. Mooney Jr. Foundation was founded by the family and friends of Michael “Mikie” Mooney in response to his sudden and tragic loss of life. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3
corporation dedicated to providing a voice for those battling addiction. We work to help support those attempting to reclaim their lives and to educate parents, loved ones and the community on the blight of this disease. The To the Moon Foundation is committed to saving lives and promotes the pillars of Support, Advocacy, Funding and Education (SAFE).
Support: The Foundation serves those who have lost a loved one to addiction or have a relative or friend who is currently struggling to take their life back. We are here to serve as a resource to assist families to find the support to offer them a helping hand in times of need, to help those impacted learn more about the disease, and to reinforce the message that there is hope and help out there.
Advocacy: The Foundation will lend its support and be a strong voice supporting legislative efforts that are focused to address issues related to Drug Treatment and Intervention.
Funding: The Foundation offers financial support to those in need by assisting in offsetting Recovery House entry fees. In addition we provide free “Hand Up Towards Recovery Kits” to new recovery patients entering into sober living facilities. These “Kits” contains the essential toiletry, sundry and comfort items a person needs when starting anew. It is our mission to let those in recovery know that they have a second chance to make a difference in their own lives.
Education: The To the Moon and Back Foundation promotes outreach to local schools and educational entities so that today’s children learn about the potentially fatal effects of drug abuse and how the growing drug epidemic is tearing apart their families and communities.
